Description: Often employees are promoted to a level of leadership because they are technically competent in a particular area. Supervisors may not be aware of the various dynamic changes that must occur when moving into a leadership role within the department. In Part One, of the two part session, participants will learn characteristics of effective supervisors, what you “thought” being a supervisor would be like and what it “really” entails, defining yourself as a leader and three distinct communication modes. |

Description: The second, and final session, will review the communication modes, discuss the critical role of effective listening, review at foundational principles of leadership and examine the Circle of Control/Influence model.

Coaching for Improved Work Performance

Description: Every supervisor has the responsibility of providing feedback and “creating a game plan”. Supervisors will learn the steps of effective coaching, “catching employee’s doing things right” and the 5-minute check-in. Techniques for helping everyone be a positive contributor to the team are included.
