Key Staff

Becky Downard, CEO & Director of Content Development

With the recent acquisition of MyPlaceToLearn by Becky Downard and Mitch Anderson, Becky now heads up the team as CEO. As Director of Content Development, Becky’s main responsibility is to ensure course materials and products are created/developed which meet the high quality standards that are the hallmark of MyPlaceToLearn, Inc.

After graduation from High School, Becky accepted a position as Controller at the Resort at the Mountain in Welches. It was in this role that Becky discovered her love of learning and realized that her true calling was not crunching numbers, but working with people, providing education and training. Before long, she had assumed many traditional Human Resources duties, including the development of job descriptions, training materials, employee recognition programs, and the creation of policies and procedures.

In 1994, she accepted a position at Timberline Lodge, a world-renowned National Historic Landmark located on Mt. Hood. Becky was hired into the role of Payroll and Benefit Administrator, but within six months had assumed management of the Human Resource Department. During her 15 years at Timberline, Becky added many titles to her business card including; HR Manager, HR Generalist, Webmaster, Executive Assistant, and Corporate Trainer, to name a few.

During this time, Becky developed a comprehensive talent management package covering all aspects of the employee relationship which included recruitment, on-boarding, job specific training, safety training, customer service training, policy development, procedure documentation, supervisor development and weekly management skill building. In 2004, she was asked to build an on-line university for the hospitality industry and created the University of Timberline, a 54 course, internet accessible education tool, which trains more than a thousand new Timberline Team Members each year.

In 2005, Becky’s customer service programs were honored with the Customer Service Employer of the Year Award by Oregon’s Hospitality and Tourism Division. The following year, Becky was asked to serve on the Skill Set Task Force for the State of Oregon creating state-wide curriculum guidelines for the hospitality industry.

Her extensive experience in program development and human resources gives her a unique end-user perspective on the development of training tools. She firmly believes education can, and should, be fun and that education is a life-long process and is currently completing her degree in Business and Human Resources Management.
